Candyman
Candyman
There, said it five times.
So back in 2015, I wrote that the Candyman series should stay dead, because there was nothing left for the series to say.
Then I saw the trailers for the new movie and realized there was A LOT of things that could be said.
Ultimately, I don't know how much Tony Todd appears in the new movie and I don't really need him to appear. Folklore and urban legends change over time to suit the time period they're taking place in. Anyone that's read any kind of urban legend book can tell you that.

It's actually kind of genius that they went that way with the reboot. The Candyman is only kept alive through legend and he would change as the legends do. It's basically the ending of the first film taken its logical extreme.
Think of Wes Craven's New Nightmare. The demon in that movie isn't actually Freddy, it's just taken the form of Freddy because that's the popular story at the time. My interpretation of the trailer is that the Candyman myth works similarly. We'll see if that's what they do.
Either way, I'm super pumped to see it.
